Connect Ledgent to Xero or QuickBooks Online
Set up takes a few minutes. Here's exactly what Ledgent can see, what it writes back, and what always stays under your control.
- In Ledgent, go to Settings → Connected apps and select Connect QuickBooks Online.
- You'll be taken to Intuit's own sign-in page. Sign in with your QuickBooks Online credentials — Ledgent never sees your QuickBooks password.
- Review the permissions Intuit lists on that screen, then select Connect to authorise access.
- You're returned to Ledgent, and your company is shown as connected. Extracted invoices and receipts will start syncing automatically.
- In Ledgent, go to Settings → Connected apps and select Connect Xero.
- You'll be taken to Xero's own sign-in page. Sign in with your Xero credentials — Ledgent never sees your Xero password.
- Choose the Xero organisation to connect and review the permissions Xero lists, then select Allow access.
- You're returned to Ledgent, and your organisation is shown as connected. Extracted invoices and receipts will start syncing automatically.
What Ledgent can see and do
Reads
- Chart of accounts, so extracted items can be categorised correctly
- Contacts / suppliers, to match receipts and invoices to the right contact
- Tax rates, to apply the correct VAT treatment
- Existing bills and attachments, to avoid creating duplicates
Writes
- New bills / expenses created from the receipts and invoices you capture
- The original receipt or invoice image, attached to that bill for audit trail
- New contacts, only when a supplier genuinely doesn't exist yet in your ledger
What stays under your control
Ledgent never initiates a payment, never moves money, and never changes your bank feeds or reconciliation. Every bill it creates sits exactly where a normal bill does, for you or your bookkeeper to review before anything is paid. You can disconnect at any time — see how to disconnect Ledgent.
